We are Patrick and Jolanda from Westervoort in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands.
As of 01/01/2026, we have taken over Hotel Am Obersee in the beautiful Eifel region and will open our doors on 14/02/2026.
With great enthusiasm and hospitality, we aim to provide our guests with a pleasant stay, so that everyone leaves our hotel feeling happy and satisfied.

Am Obersee Hotel

The cozy Am Obersee Hotel in Simmerath is centrally situated in the picturesque National park Eifel. Our outside terrace allows you a direct view over the Obersee lake and the surrounding natural landscape. Little cafés and restaurants are located close to the hotel. Geographically speaking, the Am Obersee Hotel is located 45 kilometers from the imperial city of Aachen and 65 kilometers from the city of Cologne. From the international airport Cologne-Bonn the hotel can be reached in 85 kilometers. 

In the spring and summer we also want to welcome you on our outside terrace, from where you can enjoy the view over the lake, Obersee, and relax yourself. From April to October we additionally offer you a small lunch menu. 

A huge outdoor playground situated directly on the shore of the lake Obersee provides fun and entertainment for our little guests. 

The check-in is also possible in the early morning hours from 2 to 6 am (Is it true?).

Payment can be made by debit card, Maestro and v-pay.

The cancellation is free 8 days before departure, thereafter 50 % of the invoice amount will be charged.

The owner-operated hotel, which has been taken over by a new owner since 1st January 2026, offers seven modern guest rooms, that are lovely furnished and refined by pretty details. 

The provision of an electric kettle enables you to start your day with a cup of coffee or tea in the sitting arrangement of your room (free of charge in your room during your stay).

Each of our guest rooms has a modern daylight bath with shower. All rooms have a box-spring bed for two persons and are equipped with a 56cm TV. 

Pets are not permitted in the hotel. 

An extensive breakfast selection in a relaxed and lovely atmosphere enables from 7:30 to 9:30 am a good start into the day.

The central position of the hotel allows you a suitable starting point for several leisure activities. 

The Obersee-boat dock is located directly opposite the hotel. It is the ideal point of departure to start a Rursee-boat trip. 

Numerous (135) walking routes are reachable within a range of 5 kilometers, like the 24-kilometer- long „Eigelsteig 3“, leading from Monschau to the lake Obersee in Einruhr, are offering a unique experience of nature. 

Also biking enthusiasts come to their treasures with 25 cycling routes within a range of 5 kilometers. The „Am-Obersee-Hotel“ cycling route (Urftstaumauer – Blick auf den Russe Runde von Simmerath) offers for instance a 37-kilometer-long cycling experience including numerous impressions of nature and occasions for relaxed breaks on café terraces. 

Moreover, in the range of 5 kilometers there are 24 different mountainbike-routes, which are suitable for various levels of difficulty.

Furthermore, in the range of 10 kilometers there is the historic, former „NS-Ordensburg“ Vogelsang which is distinguished by exhibitions on different topics. 

Thanks to the proximity to the Belgian border there exists the possibility to make a day excursion to the National park Hohes Venn-Eifel which is reachable within 20 kilometers.
